Manufacturer's DescriptionIt's what everyone's been demanding - authentic weather generation software to totally transform the skies of Flight Simulator 2002. Simulated weather has never looked so good and never posed a challenge quite like this! wxRE means weather Realism Engine and the one in ActiveSky will power the weather effects in Flight Simulator to undreamed-of levels. Climate effects are realistically modelled and will behave in a similar way to real life. Use the 'live' online mode and your weather will change in line with real-world conditions. Alternatively, experience lifelike effects by downloading weather report files to use offline or even create your own settings. Weather is one of the biggest obstacles that must be overcome by real pilots - now ActiveSky wxRE brings its risks and challenges to your simulated flights.
New weather display technology finally brings smooth cloud transitions to Flight Simulator! Huge technical advances in cloud design have been made that result in pleasingly smooth transitions and consistent cloud representation in most conditions. Cloud layers will slowly form and dissipate realistically over time. Never again will you see the entire sky suddenly go clear or cloudy again without warning. New fog layers, automatic visibility control options and enhanced thunderstorm representation bring a fresh new look to the skies.
A new realism feature in ActiveSky wxRE is wake turbulence simulation. AI and multiplayer aircraft will now become an in-flight threat to safety! Flying through a wake trail (especially one from a large aircraft) can produce significant and extreme turbulence that could prevent control of the aircraft. You'll have to maintain proper separation and utilise wake turbulence avoidance techniques during take-off and landing at busy airports.
Wake turbulence isn't the only realism feature. In fact, dozens of realistic weather situations are modelled including icing (with FSUIPC), turbulence, wind elements, thunderstorms, precipitation and fog. For the first time ever in FS you will now have to seriously evaluate the weather and adjust your flight plans accordingly in order to prevent disaster.
A built-in weather briefing interface is provided, where you can check departure, enroute, destination and alternate weather, including METARs, TAFs and winds aloft.
Many more features are included, and this is all accompanied by a comprehensive user manual and guide to aviation weather.
