Description
The McLaren MCL36 is a Formula 1 single-seater built by the English team McLaren to compete in the 2022 Formula 1 world championship.
The car was presented on 12 February 2022 at the McLaren Technology Centre
The MCL36 is the first car of the English stable that follows a new regulatory course and is therefore characterized by being completely different from its ancestors.
The regulation allows for the design, after its abolition in 1983, of a curved bottom which makes it possible to exploit the ground effect.
The whole area where the bardgeboards were present up until the previous year is now occupied by air intakes designed to bring air to the underbody and where on the MCL36 there is a deflector which conveys the air under the sides, with the latter having a tapered shape.
The side air intakes are positioned higher up, while the bonnet runs smoothly all the way to the rear of the car.
Also according to the regulation, the wings are also simplified.
The front wing is made up of 4 elements: the nose attaches from the second element, all the upper elements are laterally attached to the nose as per the regulation, while the lowest element passes under the nose and is suspended protruding in front of the latter , while in the external area the elements form a step to direct the flows towards the outside.
All wing elements form a single surface with the endplates as required by the regulation.
