EA Gets Brutal in ’09!

Tim Schaeffer, creator of classic off-beat adventures Grim Fandango and Psychonauts announced earlier this year, every metal fan’s dream in the form of his next game, Brutal Legend. Starring Jack Black in the lead roll of a roady tasked with saving a fantasy realm that’s a mash-up of every awesome heavy metal album cover you can worth remembering, the game also features the voices of metal musos Lemmy, Rob Halford and Ronnie James Dio. Unfortunately, the game lost it’s publisher in the shuffling from the Activision/ Vivendi merger, causing many a manly man to shed a single black tear. Those who like it loud need not despair though, as Electronic Arts have now picked up publishing on the project with an estimated release around quarter 3 of 2009! This one’s definitely on The Gamesmen’s radar, so keep an eye on the site for more details as they emerge!

Nice!

In news that’s sure to spark interest among old-school and newer gamers alike, a new Castlevania game has been announced for PS3 and XBox 360! Oh, how we all love the torrent of news that spews forth from videogame industry shows! The Tokyo Game Show has just gotten underway, with Microsoft the first cab off the ranks, in terms of press conferences. The biggest news to drop was the announcement of Halo 3: Recon, a squad-based expansion created by Bungie, due towards the end of 2009.

Aussie Fallout 3, Now Uncut (Sorta)!

Australia is a nation of leaders! And when Australia talks the nations of the world must listen, by jove! So, when Australia decided that we’d not truck with drug use being depicted in a favourable light in our video games, the boffins at Bethesda took note! Originally, the game was to use morphine as a health recovery item, although, in order to clear Australia’s ratings board requirements, the recovery item required a name change to properly distance itself from real world drug use. This name change has now been carried over into all worldwide versions of the game.

So now you know! And knowing is half the battle! The other half? Pre-ordering the game now, so you get your spiffy Vault Boy keychain, among other bonuses!
