Xbox Fans Go Nuts! The Big News From X10

Microsoft held a major press event at the end of last week, rolling out a bunch of media and info to drive 360 owners into a frenzy. Unveiling the cover art for 3 of their first-party exclusives was just the tip of the iceberg. Click the link for info and videos on Alan Wake, Crackdown 2, Fable 3, Dead Rising 2 and Halo Reach!

ALAN WAKE
The mysterious thriller by Max Payne creators, Remedy, will finally make it's way to shelves mid to late May. Significant, since this bad boy has been in development for about 5 years now. Reports from the show are very positive. Check out the trailer:

CRACKDOWN 2
The very nifty, very comic-book-y cover was unveiled (see above), along with some new screens. While previous indications had this one coming the first half of 2010, it may now have slipped to the second half.

DEAD RISING 2
While Dead Rising 2 itself is multiplatform, an XboxLive exclusive chapter has been announced bridging the story between the first and second games. Plus a couple gameplay clips were unleashed, including this one, which the sqeamish would do well to scroll right past:

FABLE III
Lionhead's Peter Mollyneux gave some new details on series' next entry, focusing on the main innovations. "Touch" will play a major role, with numerous context-sensitive instances where it will come into play, with the intent of creating an emotional link between the player and the characters (Ico was mentioned as an initial inspiration). Next was weapon morphing, ie, your weapons will now alter their appearance to go along with your method of play, leading to thousands of possible individualised weapons in the game world. Finally, with your character becoming ruler of Albion as a major part of the game, Lionhead are aiming to make certain this responsibility is not taken lightly by the player, again with the intent to create an emotional connection to the world. Check out the video below for more

HALO REACH

And, of course, the game that every Xbox fan is going to go absolutely insane for made a showing in the form of a new video documentary, which says a lot more about the game than we could, so stop reading this and press play!

Microsoft E3 Press Conference - New Halo, Metal Gear & Camera Controller! (June 2nd, 2009)

Microsoft’s E3 presser was held disgustingly early this morning, with some very juicy tidbits being unveiled. Social networking services, Last.fm, Facebook and Twitter will all be coming to Xbox Live, as will a games on demand service allowing full titles to be purchased for download and play from the hard drive.

Potentially huge was the unveiling of a new camera codenamed Project Natal. This new device will be capable of detailed motion sensing, facial recognition (including facial expressions), as well as voice recognition. A few minigames were demoed in a promotional video, as well as navigation of the Xbox menu system with a flick of the hand.

On the gaming front, demos were shown of Tony Hawk’s Ride, with the new skateboard controller, Modern Warfare 2, Final Fantasy XIII, Rock Band - The Beatles and exclusives Splinter Cell Conviction and Alan Wake.

New Xbox-exclusive game announcements included Forza 3, Crackdown 2 and Left 4 Dead 2.

The Big Guns, however were the announcements of Halo - Reach, a prequel by series creators Bungie and the non-exclusive Metal Gear Solid Rising, starring Raiden, sissy-man turned bad-ass ninja in MGS4.

Keep checking back as more detail emerge and tomorrow for the roundup of Nintendo & Sony’s conferences!
